Au hasard Balthazar
Drama96 min
Balthazar, a donkey, passes from owner to owner in France, moving through lives shaped by labor, neglect, and cruelty he can’t understand. Anne Wiazemsky is Marie, the girl who first cares for him; as she grows up and falls under the sway of a brutal young man, her path begins to echo Balthazar’s. The film follows both of them through farms, roads, and households where kindness is brief and human motives remain far harder to read than the animal at the center.
