In a factory town in decline, a struggling minor-league hockey team tries to fill the stands by turning the game into a spectacle of fists and blood. Paul Newman is the Chiefs’ coach, trying to keep the club afloat as management brings in the Hanson Brothers, three hard-charging enforcers hired to demolish the opposition. With Michael Ontkean among the players swept into the team’s new identity, the film stays close to locker-room deals, fraying small-town economics, and a style of hockey where brawls become the main attraction.
