The Big Bus

ActionAdventureComedy88 min

The maiden run of the world’s first nuclear-powered bus is supposed to go nonstop from New York to Denver, but sabotage keeps turning the trip into a rolling disaster. Joseph Bologna leads the chaos as the down-on-his-luck driver, with Stockard Channing in the ensemble aboard the 75-ton behemoth. As mechanical failures, accidents, and a shadowy group tied to the oil lobby close in, the film keeps piling absurdity onto the already impossible idea of a 32-wheeled bus called Cyclops crossing the country. The setup riffs on 1970s disaster movies, swapping collapsing-engine suspense for gags, slapstick, and escalating transportation mayhem.
