Life Is a Miracle

The story

In the early 1990s, mild-mannered railway clerk Luka sees his life collapse as the Bosnian war reaches his town: his wife runs off with a local musician, and his son is drawn into the fighting. When the boy is captured, Luka is ordered to guard a young Muslim nurse who is being held for a hostage exchange. Slavko Štimac leads the film, with Natasa Tapuskovic and Vesna Trivalic among the key faces around Luka as war presses into family life, work, and the routines of a small railway community. The story balances domestic upheaval with the strange, unstable rhythms of life in wartime.
