Hamlet
Drama242 min
Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, returns home to find his father dead, his mother newly married, and the throne occupied by the uncle he suspects of murder. Kenneth Branagh is the prince at the center of the court’s unraveling, while Derek Jacobi’s Claudius presides over a kingdom edging toward war. Julie Christie’s Gertrude and Kate Winslet’s Ophelia stand close to Hamlet as grief, suspicion, and revenge spread through the palace. Branagh directs Shakespeare’s tragedy as a royal family crisis played out in public, with political unrest pressing in around every private betrayal.
