Happy End

ComedyCrime73 min

A man’s life runs in reverse, starting with his execution and moving backward through the crimes, scandals, and accidents that brought him there. As each event unwinds, guilt turns into innocence, destruction repairs itself, and cause and effect become a joke the film keeps twisting. What first looks like the end of a criminal story becomes a strange reconstruction of marriages, betrayals, prison time, and murder, all reassembled in reverse order. The backward structure is the engine of the comedy: every step forces the viewer to rethink what happened and why, as a condemned man’s past retreats all the way to his birth.
