A Report on the Party and Guests
ComedyDrama71 min
What begins as a birthday outing for a well-to-do group turns uneasy when their picnic in the woods is interrupted by a circle of suspicious strangers. Helena Pejsková and Pavel Bosek are among the guests, who find themselves answering intrusive questions and submitting to a gathering whose rules keep shifting around them. Made in 1966 Czechoslovakia, the film turns a polite outdoor celebration into a surreal satire of conformity, bullying, and authority, with ordinary gestures and social niceties taking on a tense, symbolic edge.
