When a burglary goes wrong, young thief Olivier finds the apartment’s owner waiting for him: Ariane (Bulle Ogier), a professional dominatrix whose work he barely understands. Gérard Depardieu is Olivier, drawn back to her again and again until curiosity turns into an affair. As he moves from intruder to lover and begins hovering at the edges of Ariane’s sessions, he’s pulled deeper into a private world of ritual, control, and paying clients. Their romance grows in the middle of that arrangement, with Olivier increasingly convinced he can reshape a life he only partly understands.
