Roderick Usher is convinced his family line is cursed, and when Allan arrives at the decaying Usher estate to marry Madeline, he turns the reunion into a campaign of sabotage. Jean Debucourt and Marguerite Gance anchor the household’s unraveling as Roderick tries to stop the marriage at any cost. The film keeps close to the mansion’s sealed rooms, the ailing Madeline, and the family crypt as obsession curdles into violence.
