The Day After
DramaSci-Fi127 min
In a small Kansas town in the mid-1980s, daily life goes on under the shadow of a widening Cold War: Jason Robards is Dr. Russell Oakes, rushing through hospital shifts, while JoBeth Williams’ Denise Dahlberg is focused on an upcoming wedding. Then the bombs fall. Nicholas Meyer’s film follows residents of Lawrence, Kansas City, and nearby family farms as panic, radiation, and the collapse of basic services turn ordinary roads, homes, and emergency rooms into the front line of a nuclear exchange.
