Letter from an Unknown Woman

DramaRomance87 min

On the eve of a duel in Vienna, Louis Jourdan is a pianist preparing to flee when a letter arrives from a woman he cannot remember. Joan Fontaine is the unseen author, recounting a lifelong love and the brief encounters that shaped her life while barely registering in his. As her account unfolds, the film moves between his present crisis and her memories, following a relationship built from distance, longing, and misrecognition. The letter gradually redraws his past through the eyes of the woman who watched it from the margins.
