In 1999, a group of Star Wars obsessives hit the road for George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch, hoping to see The Phantom Menace early so their dying friend doesn't miss it. Sam Huntington and Dan Fogler are among the reunited high school friends behind the plan, which starts as a fan fantasy and turns into a cross-country scramble. Along the way, the movie folds late-90s fandom into the trip itself, with convention culture, Trekkie rivalries, and cameos from faces like William Shatner and Carrie Fisher.
