The Sting
ComedyCrimeDrama129 min
After a mutual friend is killed, novice con man Johnny Hooker teams with seasoned operator Henry Gondorff to take revenge by fleecing the mob boss responsible. Robert Redford is Hooker, quick on his feet but still learning the scale of the scam, while Paul Newman's Gondorff carries himself like a man who has spent years staying one move ahead. In 1936 Illinois, their plan unfolds through betting parlors, fake fronts, and carefully staged misdirection aimed at Doyle Lonnegan, the crime figure at the center of it all. Robert Shaw gives Lonnegan the cold confidence of someone unused to being outplayed.
