When the head of a secret virtual-reality project turns up murdered, Douglas Hall becomes both the prime suspect and the only person who can follow the dead man’s trail. Craig Bierko is Hall, a computer scientist whose company has built a detailed simulation of 1937 Los Angeles, and the search for answers forces him back into the world he helped create. Gretchen Mol’s Jane Fuller arrives claiming to be the victim’s daughter, while Whitney (Vincent D’Onofrio) stays close as the investigation tightens. As Hall hunts for a hidden message, the line between 1990s Los Angeles and the recreated past begins to break down.
