Fifteen years after the cataclysm of Second Impact, teenager Shinji Ikari is brought to the fortified city of Tokyo-3 and recruited by his father’s organization, NERV, where the fight against invading Angels depends on giant bio-mechanical Evangelions. Megumi Ogata is Shinji, a teenage pilot thrust into a war he barely understands, while Megumi Hayashibara’s Rei Ayanami is one of the other youths at the center of NERV’s secretive operations. As Angels attack the city above, the series threads together mecha combat, apocalyptic imagery, and the strain placed on teenagers ordered to protect what remains of humanity.
