Heart of Glass

In an 18th-century Bavarian village, a glassworks owner dies and takes the secret of making ruby glass with him. The factory is the town’s livelihood, and as masters and workers fail to reproduce the process, panic spreads through a community built around that lost knowledge. Debts mount, suspicion hardens, and daily life starts to give way to obsession and fear. At the edge of the turmoil stands Hias, a shepherd touched by visions, who watches the village slide toward collapse as his prophecies grow darker. Werner Herzog sets the story in a tight, isolated world where economic ruin and belief feed the same unraveling.
