With many of the men away at war, a new professional women’s baseball league forms and draws farm girls, city women, and overlooked athletes onto the same field. Sisters Dottie and Kit join one team, where talent gets them noticed but rivalry, bruised pride, and the league’s constant need to prove it belongs keep the pressure on. As the season moves from tryouts to packed games, the players juggle strict rules about how women should look and behave with the harder task of being taken seriously as ballplayers. Geena Davis and Lori Petty lead a story about competition, teamwork, and a sport that becomes bigger than anyone expected.
