Citizen X
CrimeDramaThriller105 min
In the 1980s Soviet Union, a detective is assigned to a murder case that keeps widening as more bodies are found and many of the victims are children and teenagers. Stephen Rea is the investigator in charge, trying to connect killings spread across years while bureaucracy, incompetence, and the demands of a communist state keep the search off balance. Donald Sutherland and Max von Sydow appear among the senior figures surrounding the case, where surveillance, paperwork, and official denial matter almost as much as the evidence. Drawn from a true story, the film follows the hunt for a serial killer through the machinery that keeps slowing it down.
