Cabaret

DramaMusicalRomance124 min

In 1931 Berlin, nightclub singer Sally Bowles chases glamour at the Kit Kat Club while the city outside tilts toward Nazism. Liza Minnelli is Sally, all ambition and volatility, opposite Michael York's Brian, an English student drawn into her orbit. On the club stage, the Emcee (Joel Grey) turns each number into a sly running commentary on the decadence and dread around them. Directed by Bob Fosse, the film moves between backstage romance, bohemian nightlife, and the political unrest closing in on Weimar Berlin.
