Annie Hall

ComedyDramaRomance93 min

New York comedian Alvy Singer is looking back at what went wrong with Annie Hall, the aspiring nightclub singer who upended his routines and fed his anxieties about love. Woody Allen's Alvy tells the story directly to the audience, circling through childhood memories, early adult misfires, and the small frictions of romance in New York City. Diane Keaton's Annie arrives as the relationship's spark and center, shifting the film between intimate conversations, comic misunderstandings, and surreal fantasy asides. Instead of moving in a straight line, Alvy keeps revisiting the affair, trying to sort out how they met, fell in love, and drifted apart.
