A worn-down Phoenix cop gets what looks like a dead-end assignment: bring a Las Vegas prostitute to court so she can testify in a mob case. But the trip turns into something far worse when it becomes clear that people on both sides of the law want her silenced before she reaches the witness stand. As the road to Phoenix fills with ambushes, gunfire, and rolling chases, the pair are forced to rely on each other while suspicion grows that the case reaches deep into police and city corruption. Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke drive the story as an escort job becomes a running battle through a barrage meant to stop them cold.
