The Driver

ActionAdventureCrimeThriller91 min

A getaway specialist known only as the Driver makes his living steering robbers out of impossible police chases, and his precision behind the wheel has kept him out of custody. Ryan O'Neal is the laconic wheelman at the center, while Bruce Dern's detective turns the pursuit into a personal mission, offering pardons to a gang willing to trap him in a staged robbery. As the net tightens, the Driver turns to the Player (Isabelle Adjani), a witness he hopes can help mislead the police. Walter Hill strips the story down to nighttime streets, surveillance, robberies, and long stretches of tense cat-and-mouse.
