During the Mexican Revolution, a wealthy rancher hires four hard-bitten mercenaries to cross the border and bring back his kidnapped bride. The men are specialists, used to violence and rough country, and the job sounds simple enough: track down the revolutionary leader holding her and strike his desert stronghold. As they move deeper into Mexico, the rescue turns into something less clear-cut. Loyalties blur, the employer’s story starts to look incomplete, and the team has to decide whether they are carrying out justice or serving someone else’s private revenge. Lee Marvin and Burt Lancaster lead a mission driven as much by suspicion as by gunfire.
