When developers move to replace Bunker Hill Military Academy with condos, the school's cadets decide to defend the campus themselves. Timothy Hutton is the student major who turns discipline into a siege, while George C. Scott's commandant looms over the academy's code of honor even as adults outside close in. Sean Penn and a young Tom Cruise are among the boys behind the barricades, where drills, loyalty, and adolescent certainty turn a fight over a school into an armed standoff.
