During the Vietnam War, a young American soldier becomes the outsider in his own unit after fellow troops abduct a Vietnamese villager on patrol. Michael J. Fox is Private Eriksson, whose horror at what he witnesses puts him at odds with Sean Penn’s Sgt. Meserve, the squad leader driving the crime. Based on a true story and directed by Brian De Palma, the film keeps its focus on the chain of command, the pressure to stay silent, and the moral break between one man and the soldiers beside him in the jungle.
