The Dig
Drama112 min
As World War II approaches in 1939 England, a wealthy widow hires a self-taught archaeologist to investigate the burial mounds on her estate. Carey Mulligan is the landowner pushing for answers, while Ralph Fiennes brings a quiet, meticulous presence to the excavator whose work begins to uncover something far larger than either expects. Following the Sutton Hoo dig in Suffolk, the film traces how a private excavation becomes a discovery of national importance, with the shadow of war hanging over the countryside and over everyone drawn into the find.
