At the height of World War I, two young British soldiers are ordered to cross no man’s land and carry a message that could stop a deadly attack. George MacKay is Schofield, a lance corporal pulled into the mission alongside Dean-Charles Chapman’s Blake, whose own brother is among the men in danger. As they move through trenches, abandoned farms, and exposed battlefield, the film stays locked on the urgency of the assignment and the hazards between one command post and the next. Sam Mendes directs with a narrow focus on distance, timing, and the human cost behind a military order.
