Tim Robbins is Jacob Singer, a Vietnam veteran back in 1970s New York who can’t tell whether the horrors around him are trauma, memory, or something far less explainable. As subway rides, street corners, and ordinary rooms twist into violent hallucinations, Jacob tries to piece together what happened to him in Vietnam and why the people around him seem to shift without warning. Jezzie (Elizabeth Peña), the girlfriend trying to keep him grounded, can only do so much as flashbacks and waking nightmares close in.
