After the San José mine collapses in Chile, 33 miners are sealed underground for 69 days, cut off from daylight, communication, and any clear route out. Antonio Banderas is Mario Sepúlveda, one of the trapped men, as heat, hunger, and panic turn survival into a day-by-day struggle. Above ground, the disaster draws in families, officials, and rescue crews, with Rodrigo Santoro and Juliette Binoche among the ensemble surrounding the crisis at the surface. Based on the 2010 mining accident, the film follows both the men below and the widening rescue effort as the story becomes international news.
