In the Heart of the Sea
ActionAdventureDramaThriller122 min
In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex sails into the Pacific with tension already brewing between its officers: Chris Hemsworth is veteran first mate Owen Chase, while Benjamin Walker’s Captain George Pollard has rank but little command at sea. When a whale of mammoth size attacks the ship, the disaster leaves the crew stranded far from home and facing starvation, fear, and the brutal cost of staying alive. Ben Whishaw’s Herman Melville later pieces together the story from a survivor’s account, linking the real Essex tragedy to the legend that became Moby-Dick.
