David Thewlis is Johnny, an unemployed drifter whose wit, theories, and cruelty turn a night in London into a trail of bruising encounters. Moving from squats to sidewalks to borrowed rooms, he needles strangers, pushes away anyone offering care, and talks his way into and out of trouble with equal ease. Along the way he circles back to Louise (Lesley Sharp) and crosses paths with Sophie (Katrin Cartlidge), two women caught in his orbit for very different reasons. The film tracks Johnny’s nocturnal wanderings through a city of insomniacs, dead ends, and people hanging on at the margins.
