Johnny Depp is Ed Wood, an unstoppable 1950s Hollywood striver who barrels into moviemaking with borrowed sets, bargain-bin effects, and a loyal circle of misfits. Tim Burton follows Wood through the years he made his best-known B-movies, chasing one production after another even as fame and success stay out of reach. At the center is his friendship with Martin Landau’s Bela Lugosi, the aging horror icon Wood tries to return to the screen. Sarah Jessica Parker and Patricia Arquette are among the performers, hangers-on, and would-be stars pulled into Wood’s handmade productions.
