High Noon
DramaThrillerWestern85 min
Gary Cooper is Will Kane, a small-town New Mexico marshal about to leave with his new bride when he learns a vengeful outlaw he once jailed is coming in on the noon train. Determined not to run, Kane spends the morning trying to raise a posse from townspeople who would rather look away. Grace Kelly's Amy, a pacifist newlywed, wants him to choose their future over a gunfight. Told in near real time and framed in stark black and white, the story narrows to empty streets, closed doors, and one lawman watching the clock as help fails to arrive.
