Silent Running
ActionAdventureDramaSci-Fi89 min
After plant life has vanished from Earth, Bruce Dern is Lowell, a botanist tending one of the last surviving forests inside an orbiting greenhouse attached to the Valley Forge. His only steady company is a small crew, including men played by Cliff Potts and Jesse Vint, along with three service drones that help maintain the dome. When an order comes down to destroy the preserved ecosystem and convert the ship to cargo duty, Lowell turns against the mission. The film contrasts bare spacecraft corridors with the humid, densely planted habitat Lowell is trying to protect.
