The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
CrimeDramaHorrorMysteryThriller78 min
Francis recounts the strange chain of events that began when he and his friend Alan visited a carnival sideshow in a small German town. There, Werner Krauss’s Dr. Caligari unveils Cesare, and Conrad Veidt is the pale somnambulist awakened from a deathlike sleep to answer questions and predict the future. As Francis and his fiancée Jane are drawn deeper into the doctor’s orbit, suspicion and violence start to spread through the town. Told in flashback, the film turns its mystery into something uncanny through jagged painted sets, warped streets, and shadows that seem to bend with the story.
