Hsu Yiu Fong is a young martial artist suddenly burdened with a dangerous inheritance: the book of the Snake and Crane style, left in his care after eight Shaolin masters vanish. Jackie Chan is Hsu, moving from one confrontation to the next as rival clans close in, each trying to take the manual and uncover what happened to the missing masters. Nora Miao appears among the people drawn into the chase, as the film threads together challenge fights, shifting loyalties, and a mystery tied to the vanished Shaolin elders.
