Last Hurrah for Chivalry

ActionAdventureDrama106 min

Kao buys a new wife only to learn that his enemy has already paid her to kill him, pushing him to hire two swordsmen to protect his home and family. John Woo’s 1979 Hong Kong tale turns that setup into a web of hired loyalty and private grudges, with Damian Lau and Pai Wei among the figures pulled into Kao’s defense. As the threat closes in, Kao’s own dark side complicates the question of who deserves saving, and the film keeps its focus on shifting alliances, household danger, and blade-to-blade conflict.
