Three animated stories turn science fiction into something strange and uneasy. In “Magnetic Rose,” a deep-space salvage crew answers a distress call and drifts into the ruins of an opera diva’s world, where memories and machinery begin to trap them. “Stink Bomb” follows an ordinary lab worker whose mistake transforms him into a walking chemical disaster, sending him on a panicked trip across Japan while the military closes in. In “Cannon Fodder,” an entire city lives by the rhythm of war, with families and factory workers feeding a daily barrage whose target no one ever sees. Based on short manga by Katsuhiro Otomo, each segment imagines a different kind of man-made nightmare.
