The Best of Enemies
Drama133 min
In Durham, North Carolina, during the summer of 1971, civil rights activist Ann Atwater is pushed into a fight over school desegregation when she is asked to co-chair a community summit with C.P. Ellis, a local Ku Klux Klan leader. Taraji P. Henson is Atwater, an outspoken activist, while Sam Rockwell’s Ellis comes from the opposite side of the city’s racial divide. Their clashes unfold through neighborhood meetings, city politics, and a school crisis that turns a local dispute into a public reckoning over segregation.
