The Box
DramaMysterySci-FiThriller115 min
In 1976, suburban couple Norma and Arthur Lewis receive a wooden box from a disfigured stranger with a brutal offer: press its button and they’ll get $1 million, but someone they’ve never met will die. Cameron Diaz is Norma, a private-school teacher trying to weigh money against conscience, while James Marsden’s Arthur, an engineer at NASA, searches for a rational explanation. Frank Langella brings an eerie calm to the man who delivers the proposition, and the couple’s 24-hour decision begins to reach beyond their home, drawing in police, science, and questions they can’t contain.
