Glory

DramaWar122 min

Matthew Broderick is Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, the young Union officer ordered to lead the 54th Massachusetts, one of the Civil War’s earliest Black regiments. As the unit trains and prepares for battle, Shaw and his men face contempt from their own army as well as the Confederates. Denzel Washington’s Trip, an escaped enslaved man with little patience for military discipline, and Morgan Freeman’s Rawlins give the regiment its center from the enlisted ranks. Glory follows the making of the 54th from recruitment camp to the front, where questions of authority, prejudice, and who gets to fight for the Union shape every step.
