Gettysburg

DramaWar254 min

In the summer of 1863, Robert E. Lee leads the Confederate Army into Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, aiming to push north toward Washington as the Union Army of the Potomac, under General George G. Meade, moves to stop him. Martin Sheen’s Lee and Tom Berenger’s General James Longstreet anchor the Confederate command, while Jeff Daniels is Colonel Joshua Chamberlain, one of the Union officers holding the line. Moving between field command, military debate, and combat on the ground, the film traces the buildup and fighting that made Gettysburg the decisive battle of the American Civil War.
