Desert Blue

The story

An academic obsessed with roadside attractions and his TV-star daughter pull into a small desert town to see the world’s largest ice cream cone, then get stuck when a highway accident spills an unknown substance and the area is suddenly quarantined. John Heard is the father behind the detour, while Christina Ricci’s daughter has little patience for his tourist obsession and starts looking past the attraction to the people around them. As their unexpected stop stretches into several days, the pair are folded into the town’s offbeat routines, local tensions, and the peculiar stillness of a place stranded in the desert.
