The Impossible
DramaThriller114 min
A family’s holiday in Thailand is shattered the day after Christmas in 2004, when the Indian Ocean tsunami tears through their resort and scatters them across the wreckage. Naomi Watts is Maria, badly injured and trying to keep hold of one son as the search for the others begins; Ewan McGregor’s Henry is separated from them in the flood and thrown into a desperate effort to reunite the family. With Tom Holland among the children, the film stays close to the confusion of survival, from overcrowded hospitals to the strangers who cross the family’s path in the aftermath.
