Jason Clarke is expedition leader Rob Hall, guiding clients up Mount Everest in 1996 as another team, led by Jake Gyllenhaal’s Scott Fischer, makes its own push toward the summit. Inspired by the events of the Mount Everest disaster, the film follows both groups as thin air, exhaustion, and a fast-moving blizzard turn a high-altitude climb into a survival crisis. Josh Brolin and John Hawkes are among the climbers caught on the mountain, while Keira Knightley and Robin Wright appear as loved ones waiting far below.
