April 20, 2010 begins as a normal shift aboard the Deepwater Horizon, an offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico, before a chain of failures triggers the explosion that led to the worst oil spill in U.S. history. Mark Wahlberg is among the crew caught in the disaster, with Kurt Russell as one of the men trying to manage a situation that quickly turns into a fight to survive. Peter Berg keeps the action inside the rig’s steel corridors and machinery, where alarms fail, fire spreads, and rescue depends on the workers still able to move through the chaos.
