Barbra Streisand is Claudia Draper, volatile, defiant, and under pressure as doctors, prosecutors, and family members argue over her mental competence. Richard Dreyfuss’s court-appointed lawyer tries to defend her rights while navigating a case that keeps turning back on Claudia’s private life. What begins as a legal hearing becomes a public examination of class, sex, self-defense, and who gets to decide whether a woman is unstable or simply refusing to behave.
