The Promised Land
ActionAdventureDrama127 min
In 1755 Denmark, Mads Mikkelsen is Captain Ludvig Kahlen, a determined officer who sets out to cultivate a vast heath and found a colony in the king’s name, hoping the impossible task will earn him a royal title. The land is harsh, but the greater threat comes from Simon Bennebjerg’s Frederik de Schinkel, the local nobleman who sees Kahlen’s project as a challenge to his power. As Kahlen tries to turn unworkable ground into a settlement, the fight over territory, status, and authority grows steadily more dangerous.
