In 1938, London stockbroker Nicholas Winton travels to Prague and joins an urgent effort to get Jewish children out of Czechoslovakia before the Nazi occupation closes the borders. Johnny Flynn is the younger Nicky, working with the British Committee for Refugees, including Romola Garai’s Doreen Warinner, as visas, transport, and timing become a race against approaching war. Decades later, Anthony Hopkins’s older Winton is living quietly in England, sorting through the records of what became known as the Kindertransport and confronting the memory of the children he could and could not save.
