Tale of Tales
DramaFantasyHorrorRomance134 min
In three intertwined royal fairy tales, a queen desperate for a child, a king seduced by a disembodied voice, and a ruler obsessed with a flea push their courts toward danger. Salma Hayek is the queen of Selvascura, willing to court the monstrous and the forbidden for motherhood, while Toby Jones’s king of Altomonte lets his fixation eclipse his daughter. Elsewhere, Vincent Cassel’s ruler of Roccaforte becomes consumed by a woman he has never seen. Matteo Garrone threads the stories through stone castles, court rituals, and grotesque creatures, drawing on the darker side of Italian folklore.
